Welcome to Dolan's Touch.  Our office is located in Portland, Oregon.  We service the East Metro Area including, Portland, Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview, Boring and Sandy. 

Massage is not just for the relief of pain, nor does it just affect the body.  When massage therapy is done properly it helps the body, mind, and spirit.  If you have received massages in the past you know how relaxed you feel after (mind).  You also enjoy a reduction of pain or total relief from pain (body).  The results of this relaxed pain free state is an inner peace (spirit) that makes facing your world easier.

 We employ many different types of touch therapy, ranging from Swedish Massage to Cranial Sacral Therapy, to help you live a life full of comfort.  Some of what we do is designed specifically to relieve pain and discomfort, such as Injury Massage, while other therapies help more in preventing injury and increasing mobility, as is achieved through Deep Tissue Massage.  We also offer Fitness Training which we recommend to include Sports Massage therapy in order to achieve optimum success.

We employ many other Modalities (types of touch therapy) all aimed at improving your quality of life.  Please take your time and browse our website. 

Massage affects the body as a whole. To understand how massage works, some of the physiological effects of massage need to be briefly examined.

Massage is known to:

  1. Increase the circulation of the blood and lymph system.
  2. Change the oxygen capacity of the blood up to 15% after massage.
  3. Rejuvenates fatigued muscles and helps loosen contracted shorten muscles.
  4. Increase the body’s secretions and excretions. (Does anyone have to use the restroom after a massage?)
  5. Soothes and stimulates the nervous system
  6. Enhances skin conditions
  7. Affects the internal organs.

With any form of exercise, massage can help improve performance, increase endurance and lower fatigue levels. By reducing fatigue, massage enables the athlete to train better with longer, more effective workouts. Often the spirit is willing but the flesh is not. While the muscles are getting into shape, they have trouble getting enough oxygen and nutrients, so wastes back up and stagnates. Unfortunately, many sophisticated exercise programs regard aches and pain as the inevitable price to be paid. This is not true. Massages can help eliminate the irritation caused by these wastes and increase muscle recovery from 20-75%, even as much as a 100%.
